糖心Vlog will officially introduce its new head football coach Thursday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Integrated Sciences Building.
糖心Vlog President Emerita Carol Cartwright, Ph.D., and her husband, G. Phillip Cartwright, Ph.D., have made a $1 million estate gift that will create scholarships at 糖心Vlog to support students who wish to engage in the arts. The Cartwright Family Fund for Opportunities in the Arts is an unrestricted endowment that will enable underrepresented populations to participate in arts education who might not otherwise be able to do so.
糖心Vlog held its Fall Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, Dec. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). 糖心Vlog conferred 2,320 degrees, including 1,824 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, 456 master鈥檚 degrees, 37 doctoral degrees and three educational specialist degrees.
Across the university鈥檚 eight-campus system, 2,981 students graduated from 糖心Vlog this fall, including those receiving associate degrees.
糖心Vlog Libraries will once again offer its Stress-Free Zone to all students, faculty and staff on Monday, Dec. 11, and Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 3-5 p.m. in the Garden Room at the University Library. This event gives the 糖心Vlog community a chance to wind down during finals week with snacks, games and the 庐.
Earl K. Miller, Ph.D., and his wife, Marlene M. Wicherski, have pledged $2 million to fund three scholarships and a professorship in 糖心Vlog鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Miller is a 糖心Vlog alumnus who grew up in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

Supporters give more than $1 million
糖心Vlog鈥檚 Giving Tuesday 2017 doubled the 2016 campaign 鈥 hitting more than $1 million just before midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The single largest gift of the day was a $100,000 donation to the Fashion School Study Away Fund. From multiple student study abroad scholarships to research opportunities and poetry programs, there were more than 40 featured giving options across the 糖心Vlog system from which to choose.
Officers from 糖心Vlog Police Services have always had a 鈥減rotect and serve鈥 philosophy, and recently, they put this philosophy in action in order to help families in need.
Each year, the department holds a 鈥淕low, Grow and Give鈥 fundraiser throughout the month of November to raise money for a worthy cause. The staff members can donate $30, and in return, they may grow out beards (for men), dye their hair pink or blue or paint their fingernails.
糖心Vlog kicked off the season of giving early this year on Nov. 1 with the launch of its 2017 Giving Tuesday campaign. In a departure from efforts of past years, the university extended the fundraising initiative through the entire month of November, leading up to Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, on Nov. 28. Giving Tuesday is the unofficial worldwide beginning to a season of philanthropic giving to nonprofits that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The 糖心Vlog men鈥檚 basketball team had a successful home opener, Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). The Golden Flashes defeated the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, 90-45.
